Thank you to all who came to the Ongar & District Ploughing Match.

On 15th September, ‘Team RCB’ set up their stand at High Laver Hall in Moreton, for the 100th Ongar & District Ploughing Match.

There were over 100 ploughmen and women in action to celebrate Ongar’s centenary year, operating tractors from the mid 1930’s through to the present day. A great site to see, especially with blue skies – perfect ploughing conditions!

Matt Boreham competed in the Trade Demonstration Class on a Deutz-Fahr 7250TTV tractor with a Pottinger Servo 45S plough.

Whilst the plough was set up perfectly, Matt finished in 6thout of his class of 6!

Scores from the judges show he needs to work on a few areas and luckily, we’ll be at Greenstead Green Ploughing Match on 29th September, so he’ll have another chance there.

Joking aside, the original purpose of the ploughing match was to give the key farmworkers some relaxation by way of friendly competition with ploughmen from other farms. This ethos is still apparent in 2018 and the Ongar & District Ploughing Match is such a sociable occasion.

We also displayed the NEW Merlo 50.8 Telehandler, a 5 metre Sumo Multipress, a Pottinger Terrasem Drill and a Polaris Ranger 1000XP Utility Vehicle.

If you would like any information on these, please contact us.

We would like to thank all those involved in the organisation of the day. Well done – a great day was had by all.
